BMW XM

Overview:

The 2024 BMW XM SUV aims to simultaneously achieve the highest levels of elegance and performance. With the help of a plug-in hybrid powertrain and a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine hidden beneath its ostentatious nose, this vehicle can generate up to 738 horsepower. The end result is a rocket that can reach 60 mph in under 3.7 seconds. If you just need to perform a few errands, it can also propel itself around using just electric power. And because the XM's cabin is roomy, cozy, and well-appointed, you might decide to use it for these kinds of chores. All of BMW's most sought-after technological features, such as a curved dashboard display and the newest driver-assistance technologies, have also been introduced.

The XM isn't as fun to drive as the company's renowned M5 and M3 sports sedans, despite being swift in a straight line. We'll be damned, though, if we can find anything wrong with the XM's panache and power output if corner-carving isn't on your driving menu.

For2024, a more potent Label Red model with a 738-hp plug-in hybrid drivetrain from the XM will be added to the range. We've already shown that the "regular" 644-hp XM can reach 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, so BMW claims the additional power will be sufficient to propel the XM Label Red to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. However, that time is probably conservative. Though pricing details are still pending, the Label Red is expected to retail for a significant amount more than the base model by the end of 2023.

Transmission:

The BMW XM's twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 is not a brand-new engine; however, it is combined with an electric motor and a battery pack to produce an incredible 644 horsepower. When we took the XM for a test drive, we observed how powerful the powertrain was right away and calculated that it would take roughly 3.8 seconds to reach 60 mph. However, when we tested the car at home, it shocked us by reaching 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. When compared to other performance SUVs like the Lamborghini Urus and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, both of which achieved zero to sixty mph times of 3.2 seconds in our testing, that places the XM at a minor disadvantage.

The coil-spring suspension system of the XM is enhanced by active anti-roll bars and adjustable dampers. Although the ride isn't as smooth and pleasant as it would be if BMW had opted to provide air suspension, it's still rather pleasant when driving in Comfort mode. The XM is exciting to drive on winding roads because of its quick and responsive handling when it is in Sport mode.

Interior:

The XM's interior is luxurious throughout, even the optional leather upholstery with an antique appearance that was initially displayed on the concept vehicle. The cabin of the XM is limited to two rows, and instead of a wide panoramic sunroof, a geometric-patterned faux-suede headliner with stunning fiber-optic lighting is available. A Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System with illuminated tweeters is an optional audio enhancement.

Infotainment:

A huge, curved screen occupies two thirds of the dashboard. In addition to functioning as an on-board infotainment center and digital gauge cluster, the display is equipped with BMW's most recent iDrive 8.5 software interface. In addition to the basic capabilities of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, this model also comes with a premium stereo system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

 Price:

At $185,995 MSRP (destination included), the 2024 BMW XM Label Red costs $26,000 more than the base model. It's interesting that BMW has managed to maintain the XM's $159,995 price tag till 2024.
